Nanadhong / Taungurung Country

Taungurung Country looking out towards Gunaikurnai Country, Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country and Boonwurrung Bunurong Country

I pay my deepest respects to First Nations Elders across this continent, to all First Nations people and communities.

These are First Nations lands, waters, skies – cared for over tens of thousands of years by First Nations people, never once ceded following invasion and the onset of colonisation.

Wherever I walk, I am reminded of this truth.

From Living on Stolen Land by Ambelin Kwaymullina:

Stolen Land

You are on Indigenous lands

swimming in Indigenous waters

looking up at Indigenous skies

There is no part of this place

that was not

is not

cared for

loved

by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander nation

There are no trees

rivers

hills

stars

that were not

are not

someone’s kin
